Mission
The National Repository of Audiovisual Archives (hereinafter referred to as the NRAA) serves the central mission of EKOME, that of the preservation, conservation, documentation, and promotion of Greek audiovisual heritage.
The NRAA’s national character, based on the current legal framework, includes all types of audiovisual works, and entails the creation and maintenance of archives of cinema, sound, music, television, photography, graphic arts, video, animation, digital creations and digital games, documentaries, short series, television films and online productions. In addition, it collects printed material and objects related to or referring to the field and history of audiovisual media.
The aim of the NRAA is to identify, collect, preserve, restore, record, and document the country’s audiovisual heritage, aiming at its promotion and accessibility. To this end, the NRAA acquires audiovisual material of value for the national and cultural audiovisual memory both from public sector institutions and from private individuals (owners or heirs).
