EKOME, faithful to the vision of Greece’s outreach strategy in the field of audiovisual productions, was once again this year present at the European Film Market of the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival (16-26 February). 

Supporting partners towards this goal are the Greek Film Centre and Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The cooperation of the three institutions resulted in the successful representation of Greece with a national pavilion at the European Film Market of the Berlinale. The Greek delegation had daily contacts with professionals of the international audiovisual sector, presented the important financial and tax incentives of EKOME’s funding programs (cash rebate 40% and tax relief 30%), supported the Greek films participation and disseminated information about the high level of service in the sector provided by Greek professionals. 

Great was the joy for the impact of the two films that have been included in the cash rebate program of EKOME and participated in the competition programs of the Festival. The film “Music” by Angela Schanelec, shot in Greece, was awarded the Silver Bear for Screenplay, while “Inside”, directed by Vassilis Katsoupis and starring Willem Dafoe, won the impressions while having its world premiere at the Panorama Department and introduced the promising Greek director to the international audience. 

EKOME, with the motto GREEK CINEMA IS HERE and with its continuous presence in the largest and most important film festivals and markets, puts Greece on the map of the global audiovisual scene, supports Greek professionals in the audiovisual industry and attracts the production of audiovisual content in Greece.
