EKOME supports for the second consecutive year the internationally acclaimed European script and project development programme, “MFI Script2Film Workshops” organised by the Mediterranean Film Institute since 1998.
«Script 2 Film Workshops» aims at developing the a/v projects from a first draft to an engaging final result, whereas the teams of tutors/trainees will work on the scripts in group sessions and individual meetings that will get under way in hybrid format – running both online and residentially- due to COVID-19-related restrictions.
The group and individual consultations, along with the masterclasses, lectures and case studies, will be available to the MFI participants both live and on demand.
For this year’s workshop, the MFI received 200 applications and selected 42 a/v projects (feature-length, TV-series, and documentary scripts) by filmmakers representing 16 countries around the world.
The first session of the workshops was launched on July 20 and shall be running until August 2nd on the picturesque island of Nisyros, with a schedule full of lectures, presentations and masterclasses by tutors from the EU and USA and film experts from leading European markets.
The programme «Script 2 Film Workshops» consists of 4 sessions:
- a 14-day session(July/August), already running in Nisyros
- an online session in September 2020
- a second residential session in Rhodes, in October 2020
- a final online session in December 2019, lasting for 2 weeks.
ΕΚΟΜΕ attended the workshops and Vasiliki Diagouma, Head of Communication & International Relations, officially presented the new Greek cash-rebate law and the incentives for the production of audiovisual projects on July 24th.

EKOME sponsors four participants (producers, script writers and/or directors) for two different projects throughout the programme. This year, the projects sponsored by EKOME were: “The Jerry” by Orfeas Peretzis, Konstantinos Vassilaros (Greece) from the section MFI Film LAB and “Brothers” by Simon Farmakas, Aliki Danezi Knutsen (Cyprus) from the section MFI Series LAB.
